Personally, my minimum fee is $65 with an additional $25 for edocs. Period. If anyone tries to offer me less, I just repeat the words "my minimum fee is $65" until they get the picture (what part of "minimum" don't you understand?) :D The ONLY people I will work for less for is the Navy - they still pay $50 - BUT - that is ALL they charge their borrower AND they pay me as soon as the loan funds AND their paperwork is ALWAYS READY AND RIGHT! That's worth at least $15 to me. No one else gets that deal from me anymore and I mean no one. I won't even talk to companies who mention $40 or $45 signing.

I've been signed up on 123Notary.com almost since it started and I've always been happy with that I am. The majority of "cold" calls that I get the companies say they got my name from 123. I only do signings part-time, but the income is essential to me, so getting the calls from new clients is always important.

Yesterday yet another signing company called me to get my information to put me in their database. Before I get too far I always tell them my fee - $75 basic signing, $25 printing email docs and another $25 outside my radius. I also tell them if they are not willing to pay this, do not bother emailing me an application and asking me to fax it back. If someone just starting out wants to do a few for a lower rate, that's fine, get some experience then set your prices and stick firm. It's way more cost effective to do one signing at $150 than 3 at $50.

Every time Nations Diect calls, I always say "my fee is $100 no price haggling, get an ok from your supervisor then we can talk"...end of call.

As long as you continue to work for those low ball companies they will stay in business. The only way to stop these paltry fees is for us to collectively stop accepting these low fees..no exceptions.

I have had some unususal calls for Notary Services, legitimate and interesting. . .They have all come from 123notary. I am thankful I signed up. Good exposure. I'm just waiting for the "golden egg" client that will use me consistantly and pay the notary what she is worth. Too many signing companies pay less than minimum wage when you break it down. I know I should just turn them down, but I want the exposure for now. I hope they see the light because they are very nice people and if that golden egg comes I'm going to have to cut them loose, and I don't want to . . .but Hey fellow notaries don't we need to make a living? This isn't a hobby. Do you have any ideas how we can make the $40 fees the signing companies pay us change? Besides walking away from them?
