UPDATE to my last post.. I did end up getting paid for all that I was owed through them, and I am still accepting new appts with them. They seem to have their system in order now and never have to wait past my 30 days.
Thanks Dana

Why are you waiting any longer? You've let it go far too long already.
Check the recorder's records - make sure the mortgage you notarized recorded (thereby meaning the loan funded)...get a copy of it.
Check your state website for small claims actions - find out the procedure for small claims actions in your state (I know one stipulation here for me, as to where we file the claim, is it can be filed where the payment was to be made, which would mean my own county, not the company's location - it's the venue and it's important). Get a blank copy of a small claims writ (if available) and complete it, naming the hiring party and the title company as defendants. Sue for your fee, costs of collection and statutory interest.
Whle at the state website get the corporate information on the company so you know who to serve - also check for the title company info. Get copies of the info.
Now draft a demand letter...send it to the hiring party with a copy to the title company AND a copy to the state agency that regulates title companies....your demand letter should contain a "drop dead" date - "If I do not have the sum of $XXX in hand by end of business on (I'd give them 7 days from receipt of the letter) then the enclosed small claims action will be filed with the <<whatever county>> court". Send it certified mail, return receipt requested AND regular mail. Save all mailing receipts (cost of collection). And be prepared to follow through and file that small claims action if they don't ante up with the payment.
Keep in mind - each state has a statute of limitations for lawsuits -if you haven't filed suit within that time frame you lose your right to sue for your damages. The longer you wait the less time you have, especially if the statute of limitations for small claims actions is one year - you only have 7 months left.
DO NOT WAIT ANY LONGER...

Starz, Same thing! received payment for November's signing but still waiting on September. Better yet, they mailed my check to the borrwer's house, and I had to drive at least a 35 min round trip to go get it!
Supposedly, Corporate sent it off yesterday, well see...

I finally received a payment for a November RM. But, I wonder where my fee is from the one I did in September? Strange if their revamping includes paying the newest closings first.

I have two outstanding invoices with them. The oldest signing was 90 days ago. Several faxes have proved to be futile.

Hi Vanessa -
It's only a small portable HP F380 color copier - I plug it in at the borrower's home.
Now, I know some people have been criticized by borrowers for carrying equipment in - recently I've taken to asking the borrowers during my confirmation call if they have a scanner/copier in their home - I'm finding more and more of my signers do - if they say no then I let them know I have a small portable I can bring with me to use to make the copies. They're usually very happy with that and I've had no objections to plugging in at the house..

Thank you for your responses and imparting your knowledge. Michelle and Lisa have been a pleasure to work with. I'll look into purchasing a portable printer. LindaH: how are you powering your portable printer? Thank you, Vanessa |

I have done several reverse mortgage apps for them here in SC. They have recently changed out who is handling everything in the last 3 weeks and are redoing their ways of payments. They require a contract between you and them (which is basic normal stuff), a copy of your notary license, E and O, background if you have it, ect. Payments are done at the end of the month. I havent had any issues with them except some minor ones in the changeover and they worked very hard and fast to resolve those. Melanie

I used to work for a company that required I purchase a portable copier/printer. I did the reverse mortgage applications for them and made copies of many documents they needed to process the application. It paid for itself almost immediately. It has come in handy for other closings too, however, I'm with Linda H, I call the borrower ahead of time and get them to get a copy made and many do have a scanner in their homes now.

This isn't limited to reverse mortgages - I have to get a copy of borrowers' ID in about 99% of the signings I do - normally the borrowers are told to have a copy ready for me. I do have a portable copier available to bring with me just in case but am finding more and more people have scanners in their home so they can scan their ID for me.

I received a call from this company. One of their requirements is to capture the borrower's ID with a digital camera or portable color copier; something to do with a requirement for reverse mortgages. Have anyone heard of such? |

Yes, they do reverse mortgages and Michelle smith does not know what she is doing. You may get paid within 30 days, if you sign an employment contract that states for any of the reasons they list, which is impossible to comply with, you do not get paid. |
