Above Notary in Rio Linda, California hasn't paid for two signings owed to us since August 2007. This company doesn't fall in the good guys category at all.

I know that the deadbeats are all around us, but once in a while it's good to give some positive reports.
Here's my list of preferred agencies - the ones that treat us well, pay promptly, and don't try to chisel on fees:
Above Notary (CA) - Want to make $150 per signing? Sign up with these guys! A bit slow paying, but they DO pay, and pay well!
Bay Area Sign Ups (CA)- The boss is a pain in the neck, but the fees are fair (and negotiable), they give a lot of support (including requiring that their clients give them after-hours cell phone/home numbers so that they can resolve problems, even at 10:00 p.m. if necessary!), and they pay within 2 weeks.
California Signing Services (CA) - I don't get much business from them, but they pay well and quickly.
DJ Services (CA) - The best in the business. They have no problem letting you contact the client directly and cutting them out of the loop - I don't know how they stay in business, since I've had several direct clients that were referred by them
DocuServ USA (CA) - Nice people to work with, flexible fee structure, and payments are reasonably prompt, as long as you remember to invoice them!
L. C. Bauman (CA) - this outfit goes by a number of different names, but they are certainly one of the good guys. High fees, never a problem to collect. Sadly, they seem to attract the problem clients, so a signing for them may take you twice as long as normal, and even require a 2nd trip to get everything done.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Regards Peter

Tips for using the forum
The most important feature on the forum is the search box. If you want to find popular posts, you can use the number of views filter. You can also see whats new with the active topics link. Email us at info@123notary.com if you need any help using the notary forum.
Resources
The notary public resource page is valuable as it has links to all of the free information pages for notaries. Pages linked to the resource page include a page that teaches you everything you need to know to get the most out of your listing. Another page teaches you all the secrets of getting paid. There is a link to our free list of signing companies. There is also a glossary, learning tools, and much more.
