Not to mention the liability insurance required - one mistake or oversight in a title search can put the title company at risk for millions of dollars, especially in this litigious day and age....someone's always looking for someone else to blame and some way to collect on it...
I would suggest you contact your state's insurance department or whatever state agency regulates title agents in your state - they can probably advise you what's required to become a licensed title agent.

First, title agents don't make a lot of money. Second, the cost to become a licensed title insurance agent can get pricey, including all the continuing ed requirements and state license fees. Finally, in this market, there are more title agents out of work than there are working. (At least around here.)

Thanks, but what I would really like to know is what people thoughts on whether or not it would be worthwhile becoming a title agent. I came across a few people that are both signing agents and title agents.
It seems like a additional revenue source, but I am sure there are downsides. |

Different states have different regulations, fees, eduction requirements, etc. You need to tell us where you are located.
