I wonder what deadbeat companies (in any sector) do with money they've stolen ? They've contracted with a company, enlisted subcontractors, get paid by the company and then stiff the subcontractor....now they're going to turn honest Nellie and report all their accts. receivables (partially stolen from stiffing the subcontractors) to the tax man?

It is also illegal to make 'empty' or false threats against someone in a debt collection letter or debt collection attempt. Since you would have no means of proving any kind of tax fraud by the debtor, you would have no means of filing some kind of complaint against them with the IRS - therefore, empty threat.

There are quite a few legal guidelines surrounding the collection of debts - before actually compiling or sending your first one, it would be prudent to scope out your state's laws & guidelines.

I disagree with this tactic - you want the company to pay you, not laugh at you. Threatening to turn them over to the IRS is a very weak threat and they know it - you would need solid proof of tax fraud for them to listen...more than just "well, they never paid me!"

I'll bet the deadbeat SS's are getting (for example) $200 from the TC, contracting with the Notary a signing fee of $100 (or less)....stiffing the Notary COMPLETELY and reporting on their taxes that they paid the Notary $100 (or less) when in fact they didn't pay the Notary a dime.

That's a big no-no to the IRS and I'm sure they'd want to know who's doing that. That is tax fraud. The people that run deadbeat companies deserve to be audited, fined and jailed. I'm satisfied with that result even if I don't get the monies owed me.
