It's been 5 mos. now and I still haven't collected payment. Tammy Mazak "promised" me on 6/10 that I will receive $50 to cover my expenses. This closing was for three properties so there were six complete sets of docs, over 700 pages!!!! I also rode 45 mins. to get to his house and he wasn't there. I left 2 msgs. at Tammy's office but she never returned my calls that day! Here it is the end of August and still nothing. I've emailed her today, AGAIN, for the last time and if I don't get any response I will contact the Atty. General, BBB, and LUCKILY my father lives in FL and has an Atty. friend so I guess that will be my next option. I hate to do it but this just wasn't 50 pages of paper and a blot of toner!!! This was quite costly and shouldn't come out of my pocket! I'll keep you posted.

I had a few old invoices I had not been able to collect, one being of course, SOX. I had tried everything to get them to pay but no luck. I began to fax them my invoice in large quantities. I faxed 99 each time I faxed. I have received one check and a phone call today that I will receive the other one this week. I also got a call from one of the other companies that I will receive their check this week. They do not want all those faxes. It uses up their paper and ink not to mention the fax maxhine is tied up. It works!!

Title insurance companies are regulated by the state insurance commissioner....or it may be called the dept. of insurance. They must be bonded and have reserves. They cannot "stiff" someone and get away with it. Tammy is using that as an excuse to keep your money.

I hope you have a copy of the loan docs so you can get the name of the Title or Escrow company and contact them to see if the file closed. If the file closed, they should have record of paying Tammy for those signings.

Signing services can pop up anywhere as they are unregulated. Escrow Companies and Title Insurance Companies are heavily regulated and have their state government to answer to. Escrow companies get audited at every turn and have to account for every cent that comes through their trust account. Believe me, they don't Mickey Mouse around.

Check out this link on what it takes to open an escrow company in CA: http://www.escrowhelp.com/qanda-10a.html
This isn't child's play....that's why I'm never worried when I work directly with escrow companies or title insurance companies.

UPDATE: I just rec'd a call from Tammy after leaving her a msg. on her phone this afternoon. Apparently she has closed the company and got "stiffed" by a title co. She has promised to make good on what she owes me. I will keep you updated!!!

I've never had problem w/ payment before and she's always been good to work for BUT I am sensing that I am getting ripped off from her now. I feel as though they have gone belly up and it's tough luck for the Notary! Anyother people having this problem??? Thanks!
