| I want to avoid the added monthly expense and contract of a wireless modem card. I have an Android phone on Virgin Mobile. I have read elsewhere about an app named PDANet that allows for tethering a notebook PC to a smartphone. Anyone using PDANet? My smartphone is also Wi-Fi capable. |

Dee - if you search here using keywords "e-signings" or "e-sign" you'll find numerous other threads where these are explained in detail. You already understand pretty much what it is - how much it is worth, fee-wise, is dependant on your own area, equipment, supplies, time involved, etc etc...

I've been contacted several times lately to do esignings. I'm not really sure what they are exactly other than some docs are printed and taken to the borrowers and some are signed electronically.....just not sure how that works. Can someone advise and does this type of signing constitute an additional signing fee?

I went to Verizon for the purpose of buying an aircard for my laptop. Something told me to ask the sales agent if my BlackBerry Storm might be able to serve the same purpose. It does! I did have to change my plan (an additional $15 per month) but now I have unlimited internet access for eSignings. I will be passing on that $15 to the two Title Companies that have been calling me for eSignings. Up until now I could only conduct these closings if the Borrower's home had wireless internet service, or if they had high speed internet at home. Now it won't matter.

I'm a cheepskate. I use T-mobile, they do not "meter" internet access, but flat rate regardless of usage. No need for "wireless card" either. I just hook a cable from my cell phone to the laptop and use the tmobile application to connect using the cell phone as a modem. No charge for roaming for voice OR data in the US. I do have a "wireless card" it's unlocked and when I put in the T-mobile sim it works fine. But, it's much quicker to just cable the phone via USB to laptop.

| I have Sprint, %58/month with one year contract. It has worked in every area I've been in from N. AZ, Phoenix, Laughlin, NV and S. CA. |

Wireless cards are only going to be as good as the signals that they are capable of receiving. I’ve had the Verizon AC595U for several months and it has performed better than most as advertised and nearly all of the time. It was interesting to be able to download at full broadband speed while vacationing in the Rockies (near Granby, CO) but having problems getting anything much better than a dial-up connection just north of Denver. Some said that it was unusual that I received any signal at all as it normally was considered a dead zone - but the speed would not have allowed a typical e-sign to be accomplished in under three hours based upon the slow speed.
I’ve not had any problems around the Kansas City area - yet. But, it is a two year contract and so far the expense cannot be justified for the number of these closings available. |

Verizon is what I use. Its okay. Not perfect though. Two year contract for Cingular and Verizon. The price changes over time. At least $59 per month depending on whom you get your cell coverage from.
