Even tho' it's said many times, (and it's a longer phrase than the 3 word 'how are you'), using a 'cheat sheet' does provide consistency.

If you don't value your time and experience, nobody else will.

When I quiz Notaries, many say that they don't do Oaths that often or at all. Others do them regularly but with a cheat sheet.

First of all, if you are a busy Notary, you do several signings per day, and other notary acts. 20% of Notary acts are Jurats and those require Oaths or Affirmations. Each loan signing has an average of 1.5 signers and at least one Affidavit with a corresponding Jurat. That means you are doing at least two oaths per average signing, at the rate of three signings per day, that is six Oaths per day. In a week that is 35 or more Oaths if the weekends are slow.

If you do 140 Oaths per month which is about 1600 Oaths per year, why can you not think of the words for an Oath when I ask you. Did I catch you off guard? You say, "How are you?" that many times but do you forget how to say "How are you" as well?

The truth looks like people are NOT giving Oaths when required. If you sign a statement stating you gave an Oath when you did not, you just committed fraud and perhaps perjury.
