Yes, laser printers ARE required because inkjets will run/smear if wet and the printed page will degrade over time. Plus, laser printers are MUCH cheaper to operate and that's a big factor in your expenses/profit margin. Also, use the cheaper compatible cartridges and print at lower dpi to maximize your profit.

You do not need to buy new. Check eBay for the lowest copy-count used or refurb dual tray or even a multifunction you can find that fits your budget. Most of us use either a HP or Brother--tho' there are as many opinions as to which is best as there are NSAs. The older workhorse printers (check the 'monthly duty cycle') really are a great option for us. Just be sure that an older printer is COMPATIBLE with your operating system.

If you don't value your time and experience, nobody else will.

Hi All,

As a new notary, I have been registering as a notary on several sites and it seems as though each of the sites asks if I have a laser printer.

I typically answer "YES" to that question even though in reality my printer is an ink jet printer (for whatever reason there is never an option for an Ink Jet).

Is there a real need for a Laser printer or is an Ink Jet sufficient?

Thanks!

Andrew
