I tried to let a severely disabled man use a sig stamp but Ca Sec of State said absolutely NOT. Too much room for abuse by family members and caregivers. Makes sense. |

Don't know that it's 'written' anywhere, but signature stamps are generally registered/recorded/authenticated with 'where they are to be used' (i.e, your bank). So, unless previously 'accepted', it won't wash just anywhere.
If you don't value your time and experience, nobody else will. |

Where is written that a signer cannot use a signature stamp to sign their legal documents?
Sig should be similar to sig on driver lic, passport etc.
I have had this situation a few times. I simply told them I would not notarize a stamp sig. Not everything is written into code law. It's not illegal to look directly at the Sun, but few would do that.
There is one place I consider it "written". The notary section says, with some variations; "Sworn to and subscribed......".
In that context I take "subscribed" to be "written", by hand.

The following is a first for me: Had a signer at the table wanted to use a signature stamp to sign his name. He signed my journal using a pen, but wanted to sign all documents using a signature stamp. I spoke to the title company from the table & ended up walking away. Where is written that a signer cannot use a signature stamp to sign their legal documents? I am in New Jersey. thx
