If they offer to increase your fee for backdating in Texas that is a Second Degree Felony.

In the half dozen or so cases, that I can remember asking for backdating: My request for a fax on letterhead that is hand signed has, in every case, verbally responded "it's on the way" - and not a single one was ever received.

If someone asks you to backdate, get the request in writing. In some states it can be considered a misdemeanor to ask a notary public to commit an illegal act. If the request is oral, there is no evidence. But, what if you have a request from a company by email, or on letterhead that is in writing? You could report them to the FBI, the AG, or some other scary sounding agency.
