lol I got my first text message assignment request tonight (Sunday) for a job on Tuesday. Only info was city and zip, faxbacks and fee of $110. When I got home I checked location, an hour away, so I responded NO thank you, it's over an hour drive and I would charge $150 and I don't do faxbacks but would scan up to 10 pages and email back.

I have no preference when it comes to how my signing requests are sent. I receive text messages, e-mail messages and phone calls. I welcome them all!! For those concerned about safety while driving, it's simple, you won't see the text or e-mail requests until you stop anyway. You can safely pull-off the road and answer the messages whenever and WHEREVER you desire. When I conduct signings, I don't allow my phone to be an interruption. I set my phone on silent and leave it on the table. I can monitor incoming calls and decide if any of them warrant my IMMEDIATE attention.

I suppose the problem with text requests for some would be missing opportunities. From that standpoint, I imagine that could be an issue. But since I'm not a full-time Signing Agent and don't rely on signings as my sole income, I may have a bit more flexibility than some.

Having said that, I do have one major 'CON' regarding text messages, and that is not being able to negotiate the rates and fully understand the assignment. But still overall, I enjoy the various options of receiving signing requests.

Call me, please. Texts and/or e-mail NEVER have enough info to make an informed decision, plus, if you are driving, you are at high risk for an accident.

If you don't value your time and experience, nobody else will.

A few of our attorneys will text message us often! Text messages are great for getting to the point fast. As much as the phone is more formal, it can often be a waste of time or energies. All of our escrow companies email us for jobs. We love seeing things in writing because it allows us to consider the request and respond appropriately. The people texting us don't want to talk on the phone, so we'll respect their preference by texting back.

I agree with Shannon at A+ Mobile Notary! When we're conducting signings, it's not fair to the people you're working with to take a call. Taking a moment while signers are reading documents to text is a great way to keep everyone happy!

Yes, I receive text message jobs from my direct clients. I confirm the same as email, with complete sentences.

I prefer email over a text message, My first choice is a phone call, for many reasons, usually on the road, and easy to talk with Bluetooth, or speaker. Texting is unacceptable while driving.

Text Messages are an excellent tool and I encourage clients to send me detailed information when I cannot pick up my phone...(like when I am IN a signing>>>we've debated this before...I believe clients deserve my undivided attention when signing documents)This allows me to quickly respond and guide clients to the best solution. I have had a few lately where introductions are made, service is ordered and directions given. All without a single phone conversation. Further, I love having a written record of the back and forth that verifies what was agreed.

I don't answer texts for assignments. If the person is too lazy to pick up the phone, then I'm too lazy to answer. I have accepted a few assignments through e-mail, especially GNW.
