I've heard the same in regards to the NNA, instructors giving out bad advice and in extreme circumstances advice that would get your commission terminated. Unfortunately most think they are the best because they're the most established name to those outside the notary profession (I.E. Lenders, Escrow, Title, etc...) mostly because they pay a whole lot in advertising to make that the case.
I personally received my training from www.notaryclasses.com. My instructor really knew her stuff and I feel a large part of my company's early success is a result of that. That said I'm sure a lot depends on the individual instructor no matter what the company. If you happen to live in Northern California then I strongly recommend notaryclasses.com and sign up for a class with Michelle Barry.
That said, don't let these companies bully you into getting a NNA Certification when you already are certified. My experience have shown me that the companies that pay the most the quickest don't get hang up on such details. As long as you prove you know your stuff it doesn't matter where you were taught.

My understanding from experienced notaries who have taken the NNA Certification test is that the questions/answers are often wrong for a particular state, but do adhere to their 'model notary act'.
Wherever you decide to go, you pays your money and takes your chances.
If you don't value your time and experience, nobody else will. |

I've heard that I should take my NSA certification with NNA because it is the most widely recognized and prestigious, and would enable me to get more/better jobs. But after spending a few days on the forums, I now question that proposal.
Your thoughts?

P.S. Any recommendations as to which course (company) I should take, and why would also be greatly appreciated. There will be two newbies signing up soon based on this decision! |
