When we first started the review system, the issue was a dreaded fear of bad reviews. Only a handful of notaries got bad reviews, and they deserved them too. But, now the problem is good reviews.
We have a few notaries in particular areas with 100+ good reviews. They are monopolizing almost all of the business in their area. The other notaries in those particular areas might refuse to renew since they are not getting their fair share.
The problem is that people who ask for reviews regularly tend to get them while those who are too forgetful, busy, or unwilling to ask for reviews don't get them, and hence lose tremendous amounts of market share. That effects me at renewal time. They blame me if they don't get market share on my site (gulp). So, the discrepency between the "have reviews" and the "have not got reviews" folks is a huge issue.
The next issue is -- WHICH REVIEWS ARE BETTER? If you get a review from a respected title company, or someone who has written reviews for many on 123notary, I value that 5x as much as a review by an unknown entity. What do you think?
Newbies have a very serious problem on 123notary like never before. Even a year ago, someone new could purchase a spot in a metro and start having their phone ring off the hook. In rural areas this is still often the case. But, in urban areas where the OTHER NOTARIES have certification and reviews, the newbies are getting low or no market share. Hmmm. How do we resolve this issue so that new people have a chance?
