I have an eFax. I have a high powered scanner. Sometimes I need a confirmation from the fax so I know they got what I sent them. I believe things are moving towards e-mail. Which is great. Over the years I had issues w/ large files not going over the fax so well. And of course e-mails didn't handle larger scans all that well. Today however, e-mails handled my compressed pdfs incredibly well. So my e-fax seems to like them better too.

Faxtopia is my e-fax - website
ScanSnap is my scanner - Amazon.com

Yes & no. You may need to do the dreaded faxbacks--which can also be scanned & e-mailed. However, often they either have a separate e-mail address strictly for 'faxback'/scan/e-mail. Sometimes they tell you what that is and sometimes they don't. If you can scan, you can probably survive without a fax. But you will need one or the other. Nobody sends docs by fax.

If you don't value your time and experience, nobody else will.
