I was offered 120 on the phone but the confirmation said 115. I emailed them back stating the terms agreed to and told them if they wanted to pay 115 they could do it themselves. As it is I am raising my fee to 130. I do not like being jerked around. They sent me a new confirmation for 130.

You are absolutely right! I keep a close eye on what I am contracting for and in the past few months, have received a few checks that were short $10-15---I immediately e mail and request the difference--we should, if anything, be asking for more in these times what with the cost of gas and all----bravo to you!!!

I've noticed agencies are trying to pay $10 below the average $100 fee request of loan signing agents. They can afford to pay us more, but are trying to rip us off.

I got a $100 fee confirmation from a company yesterday. When I went into their system, it was slated at $90. Likely they would have paid out $90 and made me put time and energy into getting the additional $10.

Please don't accept $90 rates in these good times. They can pay you more, don't let them lie to you. A good example to refer to is how I was totally ripped by a $9 million dollar home refinance they offered me $80 just because the docs were with the borrowers. They are trying to hide how much money they have available to pay the loan signing agency acting like they have to pay out of their title agency's pockets as if they're broke! They don't put our fees in the HUD to make it seems the borrowers aren't being funded to pay for our services.

This is pure evil. Don't give into $90 fees! The times are too good right now for them to be undercutting our basic fee rates.

Sincerely yours,

Notary's Life
