About a week ago, I was at a hotel near a meditation facility. I like to go an meditate in the meditation gardens and go hiking near the beach to rejuvinate after doing far too much work. I have been to that hotel many times without incident, but this time was different.
It was business as usual at the hotel. I checked in, my room was fine. I spent the first two days relaxing and didn't login even once. My laptop was closed the entire time. Then, the day I was going to leave, I decided that I needed to get some work done. I opened up the lap top, processed some orders, and answered a few emails.
That night, I drove home, and went out with some friends. We went to show a friend's sister Hollywood. It was horrible. Homeless drug addicts, someone had made a mess on the sidewalk on the next block down the road. We enjoyed some waffles in the mall after walking through crowds of people. Spiderman and Zoro were there as well by the way.
Upon returning from my outing, I logged into my gmail account, but I got a message saying the password had been changed... I used the reset password feature to reset my password.
A few days later I recieved a notice from gmail that someone in Egypt had successfully entered my gmail account. What is remarkable is that the hacker only logged in, and installed an Arabic keyboard feature, and that was all. He didn't send any emails, not did he delete any information. It seems that google recognized that this was probably a hacker and locked him out in less than 30 seconds from the time he got in. Either that, or the hacker left on his own.
I believe it was google who changed my password to get the hacker logged out... What a scary experience.
