If Pamela Philyaw and other like her want to work for dirt cheap money, then knock yourselves up. It is notaries like you that keep signing company from paying what is fair and due. I totally agree with Lee-Ar, DianaNotary, edelske, and Carla cjf. There are signing companies that call and you give them your price and they say they will have to get an aproval (for prices like $100 - $125.00) and they don't call back because they problably called Pamela to do it and other that think like she does. then on top there are companies that want you to fax back 20-30 pages. that will take another 15 -30 mins more of your time. some package are up to 146 pages x 2 = 292 pages that have to be printed. The signing companies charge the title companies plenty but the less they pay us the more for them. Please don't sell yourselves short. Keep us with what should be charged.

$5 might be about right if all you want is to be reimbursed for paper and toner. Figure in the cost of your printer, your time, and for all the extra time and aggravation when your printers give you problems, - this is another service you are providing. When I think of title co's charging $20. a page for a two page pay off statement, I dont feel bad charging 25. for printing two sets of docs. |

Meritline.com sells toner refills (mine are for a brother and I get the generic brand which works just as well) for $23---which equals about $0.92 per package-throw in a dollar or two for gas, wear and tear on printer and your time and you should still be waaaaaaaaaaay under $5.00 per package for printing. If you are spending $25 per package maybe you need to reevaluate your purchases.

Using your logic, I wish to hire you to mow my lawn. We will measure the calories burned while you mow the lawn. I plan to pay you with a few ounces of corn syrup, which should more than make up for the calories expended. When will you be available?

agree 75 for edocs is ridiculous. Also, good luck collecting your money after the signing from those cheap crap companies.

You also have to consider wear and tear on the printer - and how about the TIME invested in printing, sorting, arranging, setup, QC, etc etc. Consumables are one thing....time is quite another, which is worth something.

I agree - we have too much overhead to skimp by for anyone.
I live in a small town so $75 for something local is fine, but for 20 miles w/e docs nothing under $100.
I find if you ask for more you usually get it - if not scratch that signing company and let someone else loose money working for them.

I've been getting calls from signing companies to do signings for $60 or $75 with edocs. Is this ridiculous or what? Think about it. It costs about $25 to print edocs, $15 in gas to come and go, time to print the edocs, time to go to/from/at the signing, plus notarization time and then drop off the docs at either FedEX or UPS.....for $60 or $75. Plus your E&O and other basic costs. As long as notaries will do this for that price, the fees will stay low. I find it insulting that they think notaries are not smart enough to do the math.
