It seems the below payment system is still in effect. Apparently the signing agent is left completely out of the loop. Still being told that they have not paid for loan apps taken at the first of this year. Beware of payment by The Notary Company.
I do a lot of RMs for various companies and am in the same boat with The Notary Co. No, there is no disclosure of 'non-payment until the final loan closes'. No other RM lender/SS I've worked with operates like this.
It also seems that The Notary Co. doesn't bother tracking the progress of a loan but if you nag them enough they will contact the Lender/LO for status. And if the Lender/LO says it's been 'dropped', then TNC will invoice the Lender. No indication as to when lender will pay, tho'. Seems to be a most inefficient system as all LO has to do is say 'it's still working'--whether it is or not--and we're left having to keep following up because TNC doesn't.
No more of these for me.

I just wanted to say that Dawn and Theresa are sweet! I did a RM for them in May and was paid in less than 30 days. I have completed 2 more this month and look forward to working with them more in the future! |

I have closed a lot of loans for The Notary Company. They have always paid without any issues. Their payment method is fine and usually takes about a month after closing the loan with the borrower. I will always take work from Dawn when she calls. |

I have just accepted my 2nd job with The Notary Company. I have not been paid for the first, but it has only been 25 days. I have also not heard about the final closing on the first one, which I was told should be in a couple weeks. With this signing, a person named Belinda Clark sends and email to see if you will accept a job, when you ask the price, she says that is not up to her. Then you suddenly get this assignment, and the price is finally listed at the bottom, after many instructions. I feel, with The Notary Company, we are the appraiser, the lawyer, the consultant, and more.. not for 85.00 or 125.00 even. They want me to drive over 60 miles print 179 pages and wait until God knows when to get paid......hmmmmmmmmmm, me thinks NOT!!! |

Dawn called and I advised her about the bad reports on the notary boards....she went into such a spiel that I had to hang up on her...could not get a word in edgewise...she just kept protesting and you know what they say about people who protest too much!!! Thanks, but I'll take a pass on this The Notary Company NOT in YUBA CA. The Notary Company in Yuba CA is a good one and comes w/**** (4 stars). That's the one I would work for. |

FOR THE RECORD: There is another "The Notary Company" in Yuba City, California who have been in business over 11 years, received 4-5 stars & excellent reviews from other Notaries who has done signings or closings for them.
It clearly state on Notary Rotary they are not affiliated with "The Notary Company" in Lakeside, California - Southern California that do Reverse Mortgages only. Dawn Fenney & Theresa Harris are the contacts who are using the same name but located in a different county of California.

I got a call from Dawn Fenney today asking if I can do a reverse application & the upcoming reverse mortgage closing. I asked where she found me, how much they pay & how many pages were involved. She quoted me $85 for the reverse application & $125 for the actual reverse mortgage closing. She told me there were 57 pages in the application, but turned around & stated 171 pages total had to be printed which the majority of the copies where for the borrower to keep. She mentioned something about sending the 57 pages back to the loan officer, so I quoted her a much higher fee for the printing. Ms. Fenney hurried up and thanked me for my time. I refuse to do business with these type of companies again!

As owner I am not changing my policy for one notary it would not be fair to all the other’s that go by this arrangement. Theresa Harris Owner"
It's a shame this company has inadequate capital backing them so they can pay their notaries on time. So what happens if the file never closes? Are notaries not paid?
Bad business IMO.

I'm in the same situation with The Notary Company. I wasn't told that payment for my services wouldn't come until the file was closed until I questioned why my check had not come after 70 days. I told the company agent that payment is due within 30 days after my services have been rendered and that dropping the package into the FedEx box completes my obligation to them. After I receive this check they will be informed of my new policy, payment in advance of service.

You should get that clear and in writing up front. I, for one, can't accept RESPAs that way - I have one company I have that arrangement with...well, had - now that I'm working full time it can't be that way. My fee is not contingent on the file closing - what if they don't clear underwriting? What if they run into title problems? What if the people change their mind? You've rendered your services and you should be paid.
Again, always get these terms ironed out up front before you do the job.
Good luck.
