Welcome aboard!
You seem to be doing everything right and are off to a good start. The information is not really "outdated" as the business cycles go up and down. Personally, I feel we are in a valley and the trend will be up.
One of the best things you can do for your fledgling business is to put up a web site - it's not hard to do. You can enlist a youngster with internet skills to help you for little money.
Look at the web sites of those Forum members who put them in their signature at the bottom of their post. Don't copy - glean ideas and concepts that you can refine and expand based on your skills and the type of work you wish to do.
I know this might sound a bit premature - but don't "overbook" or commit to assignments that you might find hard to complete. Your clients want reliability and knowledge most of all; assuming you have a reasonable and fair fee structure.
Post here often, let us get to know you. You will find some of the most knowledgeable and warm people frequent this Forum. The only "dumb" question is the one that is not asked. Don't be bashful - we all were newbies just like you.

Oh boy, where do I begin. Well, my name is Shawn, I have been looking into and doing a lot of research on becoming a Notary Signing Agent. So far I have printed off my state (Indiana) Notary laws to study, learn and understand. I will be applying for Notary commission, taking a Title Insurance Licensure course as required by state law, and finally to get certified here at 123notary.
Before I can send in the application for Notary, I have to have the $5,000 bond insurance and I also want to get E&O insurance. I would like to know how much of E&O should I get and which companies can be recommended for both.
I do have a slight real estate background, but my license has been in referral for quite a while now because I got into real estate at its worst and after a year went right into referral and really have no experience in it and I really do not intend on getting back into real estate sales.
I have tried to find info on the current market for NSA's, how things are going, if it is picking up or too slow to consider. I do understand (from reading other posts) that yes it is like a roller coaster ride, up and down. But my searches turn up information that is so outdated, nothing is current.
I do have another source of income so NSA will not be my main source of income, and being a business owner is nothing new to me. It does not bother me that this line of work will take a year or two or longer to cultivate and grow, I have time and I am patient. A slow beginning will help me hone in on marketing my business, which by the way I already have a name for, talk about putting the horse in front of the cart.
Anyway, wanted to say hello and hope to get any and all advice and info I can get from the pros.

Tips for using the forum
The most important feature on the forum is the search box. You can look up a particular word, phrase, name of a company, and see a potentially large list of search results with which you can obtain data. Filters are also valuable. If you want to find popular posts, you can use the number of views filter. You can also see whats new with the active topics link. Email us at info@123notary.com if you need any help using the notary forum.
Resources
The notary public resource page is valuable as it has links to all of the free information pages for notaries. Pages linked to the resource page include a page that teaches you everything you need to know to get the most out of your listing. Another page teaches you all the secrets of getting paid. There is a link to our free list of signing companies. There is also a glossary, learning tools, and much more.
If you are a notary, the free tips we give are invaluable.
