Brian, you are working for way too little money. It's fine to do that just at the beginning so you get the hang of what you are doing, but now you need to be advertising your services on this website (123Notary) and also on Notary Rotary and on Notary Cafe. You must spend some money on advertising so your name is out there for companies to call you. I checked the TX notary listings on this website and I did not see your name listed as having a notary ad.

Here's a post Jeremy made on 5/2/2010:

"Please visit http://www.123notary.com/signco.asp
to research signing companies. Each company has received reviews -- some positive, others neutral or negative. If you work for a signing company, make sure they don't have a reputation for not paying their notaries, otherwise you will run a high risk of not getting paid.

Additionally, our signing company list is a great way to make new contacts. Many of the companies have websites that you can visit to find contact information.

Good luck!"

Go to the list of signing companies here and start going down the list - contact all the most positive ones or all of them if you wish...

Good Luck!!

About 3 months have passed since I first obtained my Notary public commission in the state of texas. I'm working for a friend who's a secretary for a "mobile notary" company. Since i'm working for the friend and not the mobile notary I'm not getting paid as much as I technically should... Being taxed by the friend $50 so I'm making $75 off each job rather then 125. Which I understand considering they are the one who gave me the idea of working as a notary anyway... I'm wanting to start my own mobile notary business but before I wanted to work some more in the field. I can't help but think that there are ways to get more jobs and get paid more then the flat rate $75 i'm getting paid. I've sent emails/called title companies and other mobile notary businesses. My main issues is this friend promised plenty of jobs although the first 2 weeks of the month I rarely get any the last 2 weeks are fine though... But I'm getting paid $75 to either travel 5 minutes from my house or an hour away (and usually an hour away).

So how do I get more jobs I suppose is the simplified question?
