To update my post, I just received a certified letter from C-facts. "Dear Vendor, Due to the loss of its primary customer and other negative market forces, Credit Facts, Inc d/b/a cfacts has regrettably decided that it must end business operations and liquidate. Over the last several months, cfacts has attempted to address its steep revenue decline by downsizing its staff, cutting expenses and seeking new customers. Ultimately, these efforts proved unsuccessful, rendering cfacts unable to stay in business. Cfacts is in the process of liquidating its assets for distribution to creditors. Unfortunately, the projected value of cfacts' assets is insufficient to pay its secured creditor in full. As cfacts' secured creditor has asserted a lien on all assets, distributions to unsecured creditors are highly unlikely and shareholders of the company will receive no distribution on account of their shares. If the results of the liquidation are sufficient to allow for a distribution to unsecured creditors, you will receive further notice. Cfacts thanks you for your support over the years and wishes you success in your future endeavors. Sincerely, Stephen D. Bloomquist"
I'm awfully glad I only have one outstanding invoice!

My understanding is C-facts is defunct. They lost their primary contract with Admiral Bank and have not paid the notaries for outstanding invoices. They do not return phone calls or emails and their website is offline now. I am fortunate that they only owe me $125. Some notaries online are reporting they have outstanding invoices of $4000-5000.

I'm still waiting for payment on 3 closings in May. Hounding them for some older stuff and they sent a few checks. Too bad, I always liked working for them but not for free... |

I was not paid by cFACTS till I faxed them an invoice, W-9, and copy of work order. Took me a while to realize this was a smarter way to work. Fax was followed up with a snail mail billing containing the same info. |

Excellent point, James.
I think it's a sign of our times, relying a little too heavily on e-mail. I'm just a one-man show here, but I get about 100 e-mails a day - I can't imagine how many some large businesses might get. It's mostly spam, but I still have to quick-check it all so I don't miss something important.
Making a phone call is a little more 'human' and a chance to become more of a 'person' to the one we're speaking with, instead of just another e-mail address or vendor number. Human-to-human works so well - which is WHY some of the scam artists try to incorporate OUR faces into THEIR little ventures sometimes. |

Update. I turned down an order because I had not been paid, as detailed in my previous post. The scheduler then accepted my reason and said he would look into it. I received my payment in a couple of days. The fact was, I relied on email to collect my fee and found that talking to someone actually ended up solving the problem. I still expect to be paid without having to follow up myself, but I my dissatisfaction is now tempered by the eventual payment. |

I have not been paid for May order. They have ignored my statements. I believe they hired me as a one time job and never intended to pay me. Beware. |

What happened to this people? Used to be OK but this year can't get paid for any job without hounding them every time and finally see payment around 75 days. Wonder if they would pay at all if I forgot one? |
