If you are doing a link exchange, what words you use in the link are as important as who you are linking to. Google will like you if you link to other relevant sites, because they consider that to be helpful. But, what to name the link?
If you are linking to a site that is for notaries in Portland, OR, you might use the term: Portland mobile notaries or Notary Portland, OR. The "backwards" terms don't look good, but can be good for optimization because browsers typically use backwards terms like, "notary san francisco" to lookup a notary.
Another issue is that there is a Portland in Maine, and search results for those cities can get mixed. Portland, OR will dominate search results for a search with only the word Portland, so including the state in the search is only life and death for Maine which has the smaller Portland.
In the mean time, if you link to 123notary.com, we will give you a free listing that is above the other free listings in the search results. That is a great way to compensate you for a few minutes of labor.
