Sadly, most unsecured debts are hard to recover once the company closes it doors or files for protection from the court. You might check to see if the company is a corporation or not. If it is a corporation you may consider legal action against the corporation assets. The legal cost will be greater than your outstanding debt. You may just have to wright it off as bad debt. I went down his path in another business I own and decided it was not worth the time and effort. When we deal with Nationwide companies it becomes difficult to determine where to file with the courts to recover debts. Good luck on your attempts to collect.
[/quote]We are a group of notaries fed up with these companies not paying us. We have formed Notaries United. We have been able to collect 99% of the outstanding invoices we have gone after, and in about 24 hours of making contact with the signing company. If you would like us to help you, contact us at notaries.united@onebox.com We do not charge for our service. We are very busy and should get back with you within 10 hours. Hope this helps.

Kandy you have been given some great advice here but I want to add some more input on a different note. You need to be careful not to let these companies rack up to many unpaid invoice's with you. I know we all need to work but it is not worth the aggravation if you can't get paid. My moto has always been to do research on a company to check their payment history. (checking the forums, BBB websites, etc.) If I cannot find any information or the information is outdated I will give them a chance on one assignment to see if I get paid. I will not accept to many jobs from any one company because it is just to easy for them to walk away. You might want to try my collection letter (see link below) for any company that you have that is still in business. It works!

Am having a problem with finding any HISTORY of information regarding these companies Is the “NotaryInk” actually called National Notary Ink (if so there is information regarding them here and elsewhere)? What does the BBB say about them for the area they were serving - any other leads?
This will not help you now, but did you check them out before accepting an order from them? As no history seems to be readily available, it is a question worth asking. Where did you send the documents, who was on the HUD (if anyone) for providing the notary service? |

Two invoices are from July, and are Title Companies. Insight Settlements - Bethel Park PA All Over Title - Pittsburgh PA
The invoices are from August and is also a Title Company Titan's Settlements - out of NJ
One outstanding invoice from NotaryInk a signing service... I am not sure if they are out of business, but no one replies to my email, answeres their phone or gets my faxes.

1. Just curious, how long has it been since you completed the signings? 2. How long have these entities been closed? 3. Were you contracted directly through the Title Company that closed or was it through a Signing Service? 4. If you worked through the SS that closed, have you researched to see if the SS popped up and is operating under a new name? 5. What are the names and city/state of the TC and/or SS? |

Does anyone know if there is anyway and anything I can do to get paid from a company that has closed? I have almost a thousand dollars outstanding that I have been trying and trying to get paid from, and it turns out that the title companies closed... Three different companies...
I am just out of luck or is there anything I can do to get paid?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
