Once I had to meet up with a postal carrier on his route. We signed out of the back of my car. The other was at a construction site, we used the back of a work truck which was dusty with concrete powder. I had on a black suit and needless to say, I will not wear dark clothes if I have to sign at a construction site again ;-)

In-N-Out Burger, Shakey's Pizza, Starbucks, IHOP - all places I've either done loan signings or general notary work.....Starbucks is a pretty routine place to meet since some people prefer to save on the travel fee and it's 5 minutes from my home.

I once did a signing where the house could have easily been featured on the show "clean house". I had to go in the side door b/c the front door was totally blocked with "stuff". There was a path that led to a small room where there was a table with about 12 inches of room to sign. Everything else, including the floor, was completely covered with "stuff". My jaw dropped when I saw all of the "stuff". Also signed at Panera Bread, Public Library, Applebees, and yes inside my car.

Early on there was a call to go to a remote community and “they were willing to pay extra for the trouble.” What they did not say (and I did not ask about) was the borrower was a quadriplegic. The signing was conducted in his bedroom. He had one of the hospital type “tables” that went over the bed and held a glass of water and other items that may be needed. His wife and he did not appear to get along well and she left early after explaining that she simply wanted to sign the non-borrower docs and go shopping.

So, he had me hold the papers where he could read certain items of importance, and then tilted a large atlas over the table so that he could hold his arm in such a fashion as to be able to use his pen. The signature did match his photo ID anyway. Three and a half hours later the closing was completed and on the way out his wife greeted me with, “What are you still doing here”?

I've conducted signings in the motorhome parked in the backyard, (to get away from the children), on the tailgate of a pickup in the corral with the horses, in the public library, Sherry's and McDonalds, but the strangest place was at the morgue when the coroner refinanced his house.
How about you?
