Hi,
I am a very busy signing agent in PA. I am also a DMV agent. Business here is good regardless. Unfortunately, PAN does not offer a signing agent course. However my company The Notary Academy does and can teach you all the work available to you in PA, from becoming an ASA (Accredited Signing Agent) to a DMV agent. The hoops are not that bad, just confusing to some. It is rather easy if you do not get overwhelmed. If you want to save money and get the best training; contact us; we can help.

PA is a spousal, non-witness state.
Work is hard to come by, and PA is one of the lowest paying states.
I not sure what you are use to getting in NC and VA, but most likely you will not be able to get that here in PA.
To do DMV work for the state, there are a hundred hoops you have to go through, along with getting a contact with the state, and not many people are buying cars, making it barely worth the effort.
You really have to work to get some good paying jobs, and most of them pay ok or good, because you are driving two hours to get to the closing.
Just to let you know...

Do your market research for the area you plan to cover. I have a number of long-time, established friends who do loan signings and work in the escrow field in PA. Incoming work is very slow, expenses have increased and the scheduling companies AND title insurance companies are offering the lowest fees they have seen in years (and someone is taking these low-fee assignments).

Contact the Pennsylvania Association of Notaries for people that you can call and ask about PA's loan signing business. I don't know of any independent contractore making $$ as an NNA Trusted Enrollment Agent, eNotarizing (seems to be mostly in-house mortgage releases), or "something" for the DMV that needs notarizating - but then I am not in PA.

I've been a mobile notary/signing agent in both NC and VA (both spousal states, neither witness states) for years.

I'm looking at the possibility of moving to PA and would like to continue on in the business up there.

I'm wondering if PA is a witness state? Spousal state? Or if there are any other things I should know before I begin up there?

Would someone be willing to fill me in? Or point me to a site full of good information?

Thanks!
