Blondebobbi,

When I first started doing signings, I really didn't know what I was doing either. I had taken the loan signing test and passed it, but to be out there actually doing it was another story. For the first few, if I didn't know what the form was, I'd say "this is your such and such, your loan officer should have already gone over it with you, but you can look it over, then sign right here and date" (I'll probably get flack from others on this one!) I said it like I knew EXACTLY what I was talking about and they'd sign it and we'd move on. I eventually got to know the docs and what they are and do fine now. In other words, be confident and keep learning at each signing and you'll do fine.

Wow! I wish I could find someone to help me. I had been asking and asking, but no one would help. I even took courses on Loan Signing! So, hopefully I will know how to do it when I get one.

Please don't write back telling me not to do signings...

Thank you

Raquel, it's Notary Public...not public notary...you definitely should not be notarizing signatures if you cannot even get the title correct...yikes!!

Raquel..

All due respect, but if you don't know this you should NOT be doing this signing...give it back to the company and tell them something came up and you can't cover the signing for them. Signing the Note is basic loan signing stuff that any signing agent should know BEFORE they put themselves out there and call themselves a "Signing Agent".

Then, I'd suggest you find a course or study materials and learn about the loan documents before you accept any more loan signing assignments. There are several good training courses and books out there that will let you study the documents and understand what they are and who signs, who doesn't sign, how to sign, etc..

This is one of THE most important transactions in anyone's life (mortgaging their property) and you are not ready - you NEED to know what you're doing before you step into that borrower's house and start conducting a closing. You would be doing all involved (borrrowers, title, lender, etc) a grave disservice by going forward with this signing - any mistakes on your part and you stand a good chance of jeopardizing their loan, their interest rate, etc..

Honestly, give this signing back now while the company still has time to find someone else to cover it ... then go back and study, study study til you have it down pat. THEN, and only then, do you advertise yourself as a Signing Agent.
