<<Plus .58 cents per mile.>>
I don't think that's what mobile notaries charge customers - I believe that's the amount we can deduct off our income (for tax purposes) for vehicle travel expenses. You must keep a log with your beginning and ending mileage for each job.

Within 5 minutes of my house is a Starbucks and McDonald's. I tell callers there's no charge for travel if we meet at one of those places. If they prefer I go to them, then I charge a travel fee based on the distance. I get a lot of repeat business by giving people this option. Not everyone wants to pay a travel fee. Anyway, it's better meeting in a public place - especially when it's later in the evening.
You have to charge what will cover your expenses (time, mileage, insurance, wear & tear on your vehicle) and make you a profit. Decide on a base fee - an amount for so many miles, then so much that exceeds those miles. For example, I charge a base fee to include a maximum of 25 miles. Then I charge a certain amount per mile for distances exceeding 25 miles. You would have to decide your own base fee and the maximum miles it includes. Then decide what you would charge above the maximum miles. |

Hello, I was wondering how much to charge as a "California Mobile Notary?" I see alot of different fee's posted. "Traveling Notaries" charge a flat rate fee of $20-$45, depending on the traffic and the amount of time it takes to travel to and from a Notary signing. Plus .58 cents per mile. I was also wondering if a "Certified Signing Agent" can charge more money for a Notarial duty, because they are more educated (put more time into learning the different contracts/forms?) Thank You, Hilleary |
