Creating websites is expensive.
Marketing them is more expensive.
You can hire local programmers to create a site for you.
Its best to do a professional job, or not do it at all.
Lamphost is a good company that is cheap for hosting. I use them for one of my other sites.

Referring jobs to other notaries before you accept the assignment is okay. After you accept the assignment is taking liberties with your client.

Some lenders let you make the appointment while others ask if you are free at 6pm and that it has to be at 6 and don't be late.

Many of our notaries like 123notary.com and notary rotary. perhaps gomobilenotary althouth I don't know how they are doing these days. Getting a high place listing with us and having many additonal counties on file ( no extra charge in many cases ) is a good key for success. Getting certified by 123notary.com is easy, cheap and results in 78% more visits to your listing statistically.

Let me know if you need more help.

I currently live in the Hampton Roads/Virginia Beach area of Virginia. I have worked for the last year and a half for a wholesale lender closing department prior to moving from CA. I have 13 years experience on the closing/loan origination side of the business. I have also been an appraiser for 14 years. I have a large multi state contact base of brokers, title companies, community banks, attorneys, and joint ventures with my current employer. My main focus will be appraising, but my closing/originations background would allow for some closing work.

I obviously know loan documents, disclosures, and underwriting guidelines inside and out. My basic simple questions are:

*what are the best options for website hosting and creation(including the ability to link to a second website)
*what are the legitimate websites besides this one worth paying for advertising with
*what is the common and fair practice if you refer a job to another notary if you can not make the appointment in a timely manner? In appraising we have a fee split arrangement or assignment swaps.
*how much control of the appointment time do you have? or are most appointments pre-set by the vendor/client company?

Thank you for any suggestions. I am especially interested in hearing from Virginia State notaries.

Tips for using the forum
The most important feature on the forum is the search box. You can look up a particular word, phrase, name of a company, and see a potentially large list of search results with which you can obtain data. Filters are also valuable. If you want to find popular posts, you can use the number of views filter. You can also see whats new with the active topics link. Email us at info@123notary.com if you need any help using the notary forum.

Resources
The notary public resource page is valuable as it has links to all of the free information pages for notaries. Pages linked to the resource page include a page that teaches you everything you need to know to get the most out of your listing. Another page teaches you all the secrets of getting paid. There is a link to our free list of signing companies. There is also a glossary, learning tools, and much more. If you are a notary, the free tips we give are invaluable.
