I trust Google enough to try it. I have no idea if they would or could discontinue it. I think they would leave themselves open to legal liabilities if they just stopped it. Your call. p/s For anyone not familiar with this it is free at this time. I doubt that it will remain free forever. |

Thanks, James
That is just the kind of cut-to-the-chase information I was hoping someone would post.
You are right about what happened to the SunRocket people. The phone number of a friend of mine went down the drain with Sunrocket. Lucky for him, he wasn't self-employed. That could have killed his business and required a lot of work simply to reconnect with his clients.
Having a permanent number is very appealing. What is your personal opinion on how much I can rely on Google to continue to offer this service and make my new number truly permanent?
Good on you for dumping those jerk cell phone companies. I have come to hate them.
Thanks for your help, Laura |

Grnd Central does not save you money on phone bills. It does not free you from cell contacts. It does provide you with a free phone number where you can foward calls to up to 6 other phones. You can also set up groups (family, business etc} and have each group sent to the phones of your choice, To me the advantage of fowarding calls is obvious. You can screen callers, you can record calls and also block callers. It also protects you from losing your phone number, if you have VOIP phones and carrier goes out of business such as Sunrocket did. If you have trouble or are in a dispute with a cell carrier you can stop paying them and switch to a new carrier. They may sue you for breach of contract but you can do the same. I have dumped 2 cell providers and they walked away from a legal fight. |

Thanks, jlissem
Now that I've read their benefits, I'm wondering if someone is using Grand Central and help me cut through the hype.
How does Grand Central help me save money on my total phone bills? What is the advantage of having a GC number that rings elsewhere? Can GC help free me from cell phone contracts?
I'd love to hear your comments! |

Would someone please explain the benefits of using Google's new phone service "Grand Central?"
If I understand correctly, I can get a phone number with Grand Central that will be "my phone number for life." I configure on the website which of my phones I want the google number to forward to.
Plus there seem to be some other benefits.
Thanks for any clarification! |
