My most unusual request was last summer. I was contacted by a local nudist camp to notarize a Guinness Book attempt at setting the world record for skinny dipping. I accepted, as long as I didn't have to abide by their "undress" code. It took a bit before I got over my initial discomfort. I still don't get it though...it just seems so uncomfortable to be hanging out and flopping around in the breeze. |

I guess sometimes it's a bonus to be of the Gramma Generation - if I'm getting that kind of attention, it's going to be from someone I can probably easily out run
Seriously though - I have a very strong 'mom-mode' and I'm not afraid to use it. The situation Markita had - the*****screen-saver? I'd have had them turn it off, no hesitation & no drama, simply "Ok, boys - can we please ix-nay the screen-saver, thanks." Clearly "boys" acting like that at a closing NEED a 'mom' to intervene!
Lisa's situation - I'd have responded on the phone "Well, no sweat, you have time to get dressed - I'll be waiting on the porch."
Sadly (sort of) I only had one guy that was clearly interested, but he was of the Grandpa Generation and was rather sweet & polite about it and I didn't feel threatened. He made my day, actually! |

Never had that happen but I did have something just as strange happen. I was hired to handle a timeshare deed exchange and the appointment was on a Saturday morning. The location was not local and it was a beautiful morning so I asked my husband to ride with me and he did. The house was not easy to find and I was actually on the right street so I called the client and he directed me but during the call he said something bizarre. He said he was only wearing a bathrobe but don't worry, he wasn't going to rape me. I said okay and proceeded to the front door and said to hubby, "If I'm not out of there by X time (as I've done many of these signings before and know how long they take - one signer or two), come after me". He looked at me and said, "Okay". Turns out the man was gay and after we were done, he said, "See, I didn't rape you" to which I said, "Gee, thanks". I left and to this day, I never told hubby what the man said. If I had been alone, NO WAY would I have gone in that house. |

I did a purchase Friday and it was WOW..unbelieveable. The seller(man) and buyer(man) did not even seem to notice that this was flashing right in the middle of the signing. I ignored it but it made me very uncomfortable. This by far is one of the weirdest not to mention most uncomfortable signings I've ever had. I tried to move it along as quickly as possible. Needless to say, this closing took me about 1.5 hours because there were questions about the amounts to be paid to the seller...had to speak with loan officer and eventually his boss.
Before it was all over, I had been served cake and berries, coke, told what a great body I have, and asked out repeatedly.
I figured it must be the new shoes because other than that nothing is different about my attire. So, I did a mental check of my attire---black suit with typical shell top, nylons and pump like mules. Nope nothing unusual there. I'm in a business suit! At times like these,I am glad I carry mace with me.
Fortunately, it closed and I got the blazes out of there.
