I wuz wrong too. They did not want husband on form. However, they did give me a compliment for "thinking"! They just mailed a new form with a return mailer. Rest of package clean, regular client - said did like that I did not just complete like a "robot".

Of course I tried to call attorney, but he was "in the woods" with no cell coverage despite telling me would be available.

Such is life - gotta remember to think less.

Here is what it says at bottom of form:

"Signature of taxpayer(s). I declare that I am either the taxpayer whose name is shown on line 1a or 2a, or a person authorized to obtain the tax information requested. If the request applies to a joint return, at least one spouse must sign."

I always thought this form was authorization for IRS to release the info - signed by both parties. Guess I was wrong.

Karen is the only one on title. Husband George is not preprinted on any of the refi documents.

As the couple state they are married, I have George complete the spouse section on the Request for Tax Transcript. They told me that they filed a joint return.

I get a reply that I made an error! They need the 4506-T redone to eliminate husband from the form "as he is not on title".

I thought the completion of that Federal Form had nothing to do with title or anything else. Fortunately they just emailed the form to Karen to complete without any mention of George.

My thought: if/when the 4506-T is submitted it is fraudulent.

Do you think I did wrong, or do they just want the package to "sail thru" without having to do a redraw?

Karen took title prior to her marriage.
