My driver license expired because I got behind on my mail due to my work load. I had the option to renew by mail, but decided to go in person. I had to take a cab to one DMV and then walk to another because DMV #1 did everything except for licenses. Once I got to location #2 which was one mile East of location #1, I had to wait two hours, and then fill out forms on the computer. After that, they gave me a number and I had to wait another hour and a quarter. Sheesh.
Finally, the lady at window 4 gave me a visual test. I thought I might have a little trouble, but my left eye has really deteriorated over the last few years. I could read the chart fine with both eyes but had big trouble with the left eye alone. So, then we went to a machine and I had to read line one and then line three. It was so blurry, or small or dark. She finally gave me a choice of lines to read. I was panicking because it was so hard to see.
The lady was very nice to me and I expressed my appreciation for her patience. But, I was sweating as I tried to read the fine print. Honestly, I drive just fine. Reading distant road signs is a small problem, but the daily act of driving is not. I think their test is a little too constrictive. But, now I know how you guys feel when I quiz you... uncomfortable and terrified.
At any rate, I had to walk 65 minutes home in the heat and had Indian food on the way. I was on time for acupuncture thank God.
The moral of the story is, besides understanding how you feel, I think it is time to eat large quantities of kale which is about eight times as good for your eyes as other green leafy veggies. Just found that out today. Hmm. (leafy) Food for thought.
