Notaries fault or not, some have become very brazen realizing that there is little to nothing we can do about getting paid monies owed. They also don't care if you work for them again or not, there is a new crop of notaries and signing agents daily for the to prey on. But you can refuse them and set your own fees, that is the idea of being self employed.

On 9/10 I received a call from DOCS2U to handle a closing.

I agreed to the fee of 100.00 and printed out 2 sets of docs. I met with the borrower. There was an error on the documents while being reviewed by title. I offered to meet with the borrowers to correct the error. I heard nothing more about this signing.
You guessed it! I was not paid. In contacting the company, I was told by a Brian, that they did not get paid, so I will not be paid.
I understand that I made an error, but to be treated like a second class citizen or a bad kid put in the corner is not right. As I contacted DOCS2U, I was told that I would be sued for slander if I report this incident. this so NOT SLANDER. This is a fair way of reporting incidents with signing companies.
I handle approx 50 loans per month. I rarely make errors. If there is an error, I understand that we as notaries get "docked" a portion of the CONTRACTED fee. I will be filing a claim in small claims court to recover
my pay. Just wanted to let other notaries know about this and to BE AWARE when accepting assignments from DOCS2U. I heard not so favorable things about this company, buut took a chance and gave them a shot, against my better judgement! My bad, but we live and learn!
