I have taken the Online Ed course, along with several other versions of this training. I thought this one was very thorough. Carol Ray (notary2pro) is now offering a certification at no charge, and knowing the level of expectation that she builds into her training, as well as her reputation, this would be the way to go if you feel the need to be certified.

Mark Fleming (Signature Closers) put together some very concise videos as well. It can't hurt to take a few days to familiarize, but as for the need to pay for another website icon, I don't know that a certification for this is going to matter either way.

Thank you for this information, however, I just took an NNA $35 training course for the TRID. Wish I had known about this free course first! So, if anyone out there is interested they can take the free course as Lee-AR has so kindly suggested or the NNA $35 training for the TRID online. I received an email with the following info:

"And finally we would like to share with you what the NNA is doing to help YOU settlement agents prepare for the upcoming TRID changes:

In June of 2015, the National Notary Association launched a continuing education program to train Notary Signing Agents on the upcoming TRID loan document changes. To date, 3,898 Notary Signing Agents have enrolled in the course, and their completion status can be monitored within each Notary’s profile at www.signingagent.com. All Notary Signing Agents who complete the continuing education course will receive priority status listing within SigningAgent.com, and will receive an additional emblem on their NSA certification logo designating them as “Trained”.

We encourage you to take the time to get the training you need regarding the new Closing Disclosure documents. October 3rd is right around the corner and the last thing we want is for our agents not to be up to speed with the industry’s changes."

imho, IF we are pro-active and take this free training & obtain a certificate, we may be able to eliminate the 'need' for paid-by-us training.

How many of you have followed thru on this free course?

This is a VERY comprehensive course about the new documents mandated for use after 10/3/15. It is way more than what we need to know, but it does provide a 'completion Certificate' which should make all the parties that hire us happy (and possibly eliminate the 'need' for taking a course 'elsewhere' for a hefty fee). I have sent my compliance certificate to several companies who have requested that I take their 'house-brand' training--with good results.
