I am back and forth on the issue. Most companies will pay 10-15$ if it is an investment property and the whole package needs to be faxed back. Funding depends on the Lender. If it is a signing company that I have never worked for before and they want to QC my work, I tell them they can pay me extra or find another notary willing to work for free. I have been doing this for over 10 years. Servicelink is now doing a lot of loans for PNC Mortgage, and they require fax backs. Whenever they (or LSI) calls for a signing, I ask who the lender is and tell them my fee is 10$ over what they have on file for me. They say they wont pay for fax backs, but I just tell them my fee has increased and so far I haven't had any issues! I try to take the extra time with the attitude that some closings take 30 mins and I'm getting paid top dollar, so it all comes out in the wash.

Sore subject, I know. But how are you handling requests for faxbacks from Signing Companies? When receiving a call for a closing, the first question I ask is "are there faxbacks"? If so, unless they're willing to pay me an additional $20, I refuse the assignment. Many companies won't pay extra (Service Link, etc.).
So what's really behind the faxback issue? -Can they actually fund from faxed documents, critical and non-critical? - What do you consider a "reasonable" faxback package? I recently had to fax over 40 pages - Do you, like me, prefer to scan and email? I find that while it takes a few extra minutes to do, I am in better control of the documents. - Is there a reasonable up-charge for faxbacks?
And anything else you can add.
Just wondering. I don't need the practice, as one of my notary friends says, so what's the group's thinking on the topic.
