We all know that your notary seal expires. There is an expiration date that is part of the stamp's impression. Louisiana is the only state that I know of that gives life long commissions. But, what about notarizations? Should they expire?

Think about it... A notary keeps a record in their journal of the notary transaction. After the notary retires their commission, the county clerk takes hold of the journal. What if the journal gets lost or is no longer accessible after some time passes? Maybe it is good to require critical documents to be re-notarized? Kind of like vow-renewal proceedures in Florida! Maybe a document should get renotarized every 10 or 20 years.

I just went through my closet and found all of my earthquake supplies. Lots of food and batteries. It had been 8 years and most of the stuff had gone bad. I used to think that you get your earthquake supplies together and you are set. Now, my strategy has changed. Where I place items has more to do with their expiration and how fast I need to get them. Now, I keep fresh batteries in a drawer and know which flashlights and lanterns use which size of battery. Food is all airtight now. I saw a funeral for 300 bugs because I put olive oil in my last earthquake supply area. I learned my lesson.
