I received a 1099 with the amount they still owe me $415.00, (which apparently means they are only "paying" me $5.00 for a print/trip fee on a cancellation at the table), included in it. There is no way to get a hold of them. I am giving my tax preparer my Notary Assist printouts showing income from them and the ones they owe me for. It says right on the 1099, that if the income reported it is incorrect, try to get a corrected one and if you can't to report the correct amount with a written explanation.

Patricia - contact them and request a corrective 1099 - they apparently have done this to a number of notaries. They've also issued 1099s including the amounts they still owe.
Check with a tax preparer or CPA - if you can't get them to correct the 1099, there's a way to report this on your return as "excess 1099". Here's what was posted by Sue Harke, a CPA, on Notary Rotary:
"Once again if you can't get a correct 1099. If the 1099 is more than you were actually paid, report the amount of the 1099 in income and put under expenses "overstatement of 1099 by sender" and take the deduction. The IRS matches the income you receive to the 1099 received. Therefore, if these numbers do not match, it may come back to bite you in about 2 years."
Good luck..

Yesterday I received a bogus 1099 form from HVR stating that I received $765 in compensation during 2013. I only did one assignment for this company in February 2013 and received $100!!! Not pleased at all!!

I wanted all to know that Security One Lending paid me my funds owed by HVR notaries.. I am thankful to them as they did not have to. I am also hoping that they do not do any business with the new HVR renagades..or any title company that deals with them.

I too am owed $$ by HVR. This is embezzlement, so when you file your complaints, please emphasize that. Embezzlement: The fraudulent conversion of another's property (e.g. money) by a person who is in a position of trust, such as an agent. These signing agencies are our "agents" as they represent us in regard to the title/escrow company payment and are entrusted by us to forward the money to us that has been collected by them from the title/escrow companies on our behalf for the notary/signing services we have completed.I am trying to find out if this embezzled money can be protected from bankruptcy claims, since it is "our" money that they have received from the title/escrow companies. Please send complaints to: consumerform@SDCDA.org <consumerform@SDCDA.org>; They will send you the complaint form |

I did three reverse mortgage signings for HVR in July and August and have not been paid for any of them. They owe me $365.00. They have not responded to any of my e-mails of phone calls regarding the unpaid invoices in months. This is really sad, as I cannot afford to lose this money. I will be filing whatever paperwork I can with the San Diego DA and rip-off report. I wonder how much of our money Hector Vides absconded with, because he obviously got paid for all the work we did, but decided to spend it on himself. |

OK, as we each file our complaint re $ due and promises to pay-- it will add up and the DA will see the pattern. We aren't getting cheated without a fight! This response from those of us involved is just what is needed to discourage other SS's from trying this sleazeball "business model". |

I have only worked with them a few times, however, have not received an Aug and Sept signings. I was told two weeks ago that they were going to write checks in the middle of the month so I told them I would be in SAN and would stop by and pick up my checks...only to be told that was done at another office of which she would not give me the address !! Now I will do the e-mail as was suggested and hope that it works out. Thanks for all your help out there. |

They owe me $460.00. Three signings in July, one in Aug & one in Sept, that cancelled by the borrower after I got there. I have been working with them for quite a while and never had any problems getting paid until the ones from July. That is the only reason I took any more from them.
The last email I got from them was Friday, 10/18/13, that said: "They are working on disbursing the funds by the end of next week. Please be patient as they work out some issues but they will be contacting you as soon as your check is ready."
I asked who "they" is and someone replied "Hector".
I emailed the SDCDA, as was suggested, and almost immediately received an auto reply with the form attached, to fill out.
Wish me luck!

but, those folks will be painted with the HVR brush, as it were. They may be required to use paypal for bookings w/those notaries across the USA who have been following the way HVR is attempting to perpetrate fraud against notaries. |
