The interest rates went down .5 when Obama chose a new Fed Chairman.

The decrease in business has NOTHING to do with the shutdown, and everything to do with an increase in interest rates. I knew when I saw my first 4% closing that the boom was coming to an end. I had been doing 50+ per month for a few years and now am doing as little less than 20 per month. During the boom I took every call that came my way "making hay while the sun shines" so to speak. Oh well, now I have more time for golf.

I am in VA. The past two week have been quiet. When I first signed up and made myself public online I got 3-5 calls a week.. and felt that was great as I live in a small rural area. Not sure what happened.

Fellow signing agents, Which signing companies do you find to currently be the busiest and to have orders available? I've been a Signing Agent in Oregon for over 8 years, and had depended on a small list of Title Companies and signing services which had kept me plenty busy, but the last few months have been very slow for me.

There may be less orders these days, but which agency is getting the ones out there these days?

Thanks!

I normally average 20-30 Notary calls a month. This month in September I only took 7 assignments and only had 9 actual requests for a Notary. And only 2 of them refi's. Has it been really slow for anyone else? Is the refi boom coming to an end?

Remember when there was a special in the news about "junk" in hamburger? Sales of hamburgers plunged (for a little while). If you only sold burgers you had lots of zero days. But if you also sold ice cream and perogies, you only lost "some" of your business.

I have seen a significant slowdown over this last month. Been at this for 10 years and I can't recall seeing such a dramatic drop in such a short period of time before. All of my accounts say its slow on their end and most attribute it to the government shut down. I'm not sure what to believe but if its true, we should be out straight when the shutdown ends. That is if it ever does.

Assume everyone, everywhere is feeling the impact.
