How do you go about advertising with Attorneys. I live in a small area and it might be something that could generate income. Did you make up cards to send?

But, there's more. I had a client who bought and sold massage clinics. She gave me excellent tips and I always got paid cash! I got so busy with 123, that I didn't have time to take care of her notarizations anymore. Too bad. She was my favorite client ever!

Every now and then I feel a need to give back to other notaries on how to improve their business. I've been doing this for four years now and have learned a bit. The money isn't really in loan signing work that is time consuming along with materials. The real income is developing a partnership with solo lawyers who require a notary to sign their client' docs at their meetings. They do all of the work for you much of the time preparing the documents, and it's fast work. They call you back and if you get a few loyal attorneys in your court they'll give you steady work depending on their practice.

The other big money is with successful small businesses, start ups, etc. who don't have an in-house notary. These are revolving door kind of signings because they usually recognize they need a full time notary on staff but it sometimes takes them months to get one on board.

The other key thing is to get a client who doesn't care how much you charge for high volume signings because he passes on the bill to his wealthy client such as a law firm who then passes it on to their client.

All it takes is a few of these kind of high volume signings and it's equivalent to 20 signings a month with far much effort and time.

So signings isn't where the money is and the good thing to know is your clients will be loyal with you if they like you personally. Yes, politics is involved as is all business relationships.

The most I made was 150 signatures in about 3 hours and I didn't have to but I did give them 20 free signatures though they would have paid what I asked. Another client recently paid $500 for 50 signatures that took one hours worth of work. This is where the money is, and unfortunately a lot of it has to do with good luck in who they choose to call first, so marketing on-line is key.

Sincerely yours,

Notary's Life
