I just cross out closing agent and sign it as signing agent since, if I'm not mistaken, it's stating that you examined the originals (if I'm thinking of the right form - there's a few different formats) - escrow doesn't examine the originals - we do at the table.

Any ID form that I have to fill out, whether it's one form of ID, or 2, I sign as Signing Agent since I've completed the form fromt he original ID.

When contacted ask them: "Other than printing the documents, than notarizing the signatures of the borrower(s), obtaining their initials and shipping the documents - is there ANYTHING else I will be required to DO or SIGN". Ask in an email - insist on an email reply.

Make it clear that additional requirements sent with the edocs are subject to YOUR approval, and might incur additional fees.

I don't like to "bounce" a job, especially at the last minute when the docs are finally ready. However, a recent package insisted that I sign several documents as "Closing Agent" AND as "Settlement Agent". I told them that would not happen, they wailed "You accepted the job and must do what it takes".

I been around the block more than once. I have learned the two easiest ways to get into really deep poo are with 1)your mouth and 2) with your signature.

THINK before you say or sign.

AT notaries, give it up on the mother and daughter signing team would you please. We really don't care or need to know who you sign with. Kind of cheesy don't you think? Such means nothing in the professional world.

Thanks

I disagree - you should not have done this. The Patriot Act form is for the borrowers on the loan - not the notary - I would not have done it "even this once" and this would not have held up the deal. Don't let them snooker you like this. The only thing that gets held up if they do not have YOUR information is YOUR payment - and that required information does NOT go on the Patriot Act form. Lack of your ID information would not prevent the borrowers' loan from funding - but lack of borrower's ID information can.

Someone needs to get in Prospect's ear and let them know they're wrong. Jeez.

Never been asked for that, but don't think I'd comply. I'm not a party to the transaction!
