The TC was indignant about having to pay $150 for services in the Silicon Valley. Used $40 in bogus penalties to bring the rate down.

My estimates are based on $1 per page, plus $20 per extra(travel, eDocs, faxbacks, signers 3+, doc sets 3+, after-hours 9 pm to 5 am, weekends, federal holidays).

The doc set was $123 pages for a 8 pm appointment on a Friday (not including Confirmation Order). My original quote was
$160 = $123 signing agent services + $20 eDocs + $20 travel.

The TC asked for and received a $10 discount.

(1) Job Order specified that the TC not be called unless it was an emergency. So when the made a common mistake of signing in the wrong place on the lender's copy of the Right to Cancel, I had her write a note on it stating she had in her possession 2 properly executed borrowers copies. The National Notary Association affirmed that this was the proper way to have handled the situation. Vantage Point wants to deduct $15.

(2) Borrower wanted to go have ice cream after the signing with her boyfriend and offered to give me a lift back to my office rather than wait for a cab. Vantage Point felt this was highly unprofessional of me and is deducting $25.

My car is in the shop, so I take public transportation to as close to the appointment as I can get then call a cab for the remaining distance. However, I received and needed to take a $30 cab from downtown San Jose to make it to the appointment on a Friday to get to the borrower's boyfriend's home 8 miles away, on a hill, up a road with no sidewalks....

TC's response: "I had to call a list 4 pages long of notaries and I got YOU..."

On their website I found "Vantage Point Title prides itself on using Technology to its fullest. By squeezing every ounce of potential out of our IT Department and Infrastructure, Vantage Point Title has built a streamlined, efficient and reliable system to serve our clients." http://vpt.wpengine.com/about-us/the-vpt-edge/

Technology ain't the only thing they are squeezing.
