I did a search on the forum's for this topic and could not find an answer, sorry if it is a repost.

1. As far as I understand, it is acceptable to use a self-inking stamper to "put in" dates on our journal (i.e. date/time of notarization) and on our acks and jurats (On _______, before me Joseph...) if I am wrong, please advise

2. Can we use a stamp to enter a signer's driver license info in our journal, for example CA C1234567? If so, does anybody know of a vendor that sells such a stamp?

The reason I am asking is because according to the NNA hotline and state law, we must have ONE journal entry for ONE signature notarized, which leads me to have sometimes 20+ lines in my journal for one loan package I do, and this causes me to need to enter the same info over and over many many times.

I know some notaries choose to put non-critical documents such as signature name affidavits and borrower's certifications, etc.. on the same entry in their journal to save work by using checkboxes, but I don't want to have that come back to bite me in the future because I was lazy.

I work with a senior notary of over 12 years and he says it is ok, any thoughts on this? Thank you
