One of my customers emailed me to ask me what I thought about a Notary union. I said I didn't like it as unions are corrupt. But, highly skilled elite certified Notaries are not paid what I feel they are worth which isn't fair!

To me the solution is to have companies that only hire the best. I think some of the more prestigious title companies are already doing that with their white glove lists, etc.

Think we already have a 'national network' and what a PITA they turned out to be.

Also keep in mind ALL notaries and signings agents who join would be bound by the terms of any union contracts resulting from the union - demographics aside - sounds like you're basically suggesting a national network - OY what a headache!!

Susan,

This sounds like a huge undertaking. Can you tell us what you think some of the legalities and/or illegalities of this type of project would be? Regulating sounds very difficult and legal.

As ICs, I don't know how we could be a Union. Except that IC truckers belong to the Teamsters, don't they? Stay away from 'setting fees' as one size truly does NOT fit all. 5 miles in New York City is a whole world different than 5 miles in Wyoming.

I love the idea and wondered if it is possible due to the fact that we are independant contractors.

Taking a survey to see what kind of response I would get.
Is anyone interested in the formation of a Signing Agent union??
Basic fees could be set, collections could be agganged, possible insurance benefits can be set in place, the list goes on and on.
Personally, I'm tired of getting beat, whether be it, non-payment for services rendered, contract disputes, and newbies low balling.
There would be alot of details that would need to be worked out. Districts set in place and so forth.
Please email me your thoughts. be nice though. If you don't agree, that's ok, I just want an opinion.
