Nothing. Noone will ever pay it anyway. Think of the time it will take to try and collect it. |

Do you have a waiting fee? Should you? How often do people keep you waiting? If it is five or ten minutes, that is fine, but what about 45 minutes, or an hour because their documents are not ready, or because they are having a discussion with one of the signers. Perhaps one of the signers in their group arrived late?
If you don't get your travel and waiting fee up front in cash, you might not get it at all! Many signers feel that if they don't have you notarize anything, that you "didn't do anything", or didn't work, and therefore don't deserve to be paid despite your phone time and travel time, opportunity cost rejecting other jobs, etc.
Seasoned notaries often ask for travel fee up front at the door BEFORE they see the signers or the documents or the identifications. If they are kept waiting more than 15 or 20 minutes, the first installment of their waiting fee needs to be paid in cash, or they can walk out and not lose anything. THEN, if the ID's don't match, or if there are no identifications, the notary can also be at liberty to walk!

Tips for using the forum
The most important feature on the forum is the search box. You can look up a particular word, phrase, name of a company, and see a potentially large list of search results with which you can obtain data. Filters are also valuable. If you want to find popular posts, you can use the number of views filter. You can also see whats new with the active topics link. Email us at info@123notary.com if you need any help using the notary forum.
Resources
The notary public resource page is valuable as it has links to all of the free information pages for notaries. Pages linked to the resource page include a page that teaches you everything you need to know to get the most out of your listing. Another page teaches you all the secrets of getting paid. There is a link to our free list of signing companies. There is also a glossary, learning tools, and much more.
