It happens because the scanner was set to very high resolution (often photo video) mode. That increases the bulk to be transferred from the computer to the printer. There is nothing you can do to speed up the job.

The majority of PDFs that I receive print at a good speed, page after page with no stopping. But a certain amount (maybe 1 out of 10) do this very annoying thing where they print one page and then stop, as if thinking about how to print the next page, before moving on. I am currently waiting for one of these slow print jobs to finish and I count 16 long seconds of pause between each page. Why does this happen with some PDFs??? Any way I can accelerate the print job?

It also doesn't help that the job was originally schedules for 7 and I didn't get the docs until 6:20. Also doesn't help that this set is a whopping 186 pages long! But now I'm just venting...
