A notary named James got arrested for drunk driving... He ends up in jail. At first he was worried that he would be alienated in this forboding environment. But, after he was checked in and went to his cell, he started seeing familiar faces. The only thought that went through his mind was -- HOW DO I KNOW THESE PEOPLE?

A few hours later, it was dinner time at this low security jail. Everybody in James' floor was released to go to the dining room. When James arrived, he noticed that he somehow knew everyone there. But, he couldn't figure out how he knew them.

The other people in the dining room were all his clients from Mortgage companies who had hired him to do loan signings for them! They all got arrested during a bust on fraudulent loans. One guy was involved in the robo-signer loans. Another used that illegal company we have all heard of to do online e-notarizations without personal appearance. A few initialed for the borrower on a Deed of Trust and got locked up.

This notary never anticipated that he would have the best time of his life ever behind bars.

The way he recognized everyone was that they emailed James, and their pictures were in the corner of the emails on his gmail account. He had talked to them all on the phone, and recognized their voices.

The moral of this fictional and funny story is -- don't drink and drive, AND, never trust a smiling mortgage broker.
