Agreed. Living in a small town/rural area, I do a lot of road trips and the miles/time can sure add up.

Once, I was half way home from a signing when the B called and said that he forgot to give me a bunch of documentation (that I had NOT been told about) and I should return to pick it up. Ummmm...let me call hiring party first.

I called, explained situation and TOLD them I would not be going back for this unless they agreed to compensate me. They weren't happy, but did agree. And they still call me.

My experience has been that hiring entity is good about paying for 'over & above' situations. But, if you don't ask, you will definitely not get!

If you don't value your time and experience, nobody else will.

Fellow suffering Notaries and Signing Agents:

We have all seen the numerous "deductions" levied against us for "infractions" of often silly requirements. "As ye sow so shall ye reap". Let's charge them for real errors on THEIR part.

Just had one at the W hotel in NYC. But the assigned address was for the wrong "branch" of the W hotel. An hour wasted, another crosstown trip. Late docs, bad phone numbers, the list goes on and on.

BTW: Yes I did confirm with the borrower, a tourist who blissfully did confirm the wrong address, not really knowing where they were!

THIS time I am going to require payment for my time, gas, and frustration. You should too.
