This fee schedule is great for the notary but doesn't work in the real world. Signing companies think it is too expensive, plus their loans might have a few extra signatures that they are not aware of. The term "free travel" should say, "travel included in flat fee".

Most title companies will offer at least $125, so it is too cheap for them. In this business you either charge high or low when dealing with companies.

If dealing directly with the public, having flat fees is a good idea because they will feel they are getting a reasonable deal. It would be good to have a package for four or more signatures... Perhaps $65 for four signatures.

My pricing schedule charged a lot for travel but relatively little for signatures since doing multiple signatures is FAST since your journal and stamp are alread on the table and you already have everyone identified. $35 + $5 per signature and $3 per signature for signature #11 and beyond is a very reasonable formula. Fair to all parties.

Thanks Lee. I thought so too. I've had up to 18 notaries for a husband and wife refi. No signing companies will pay according to her ad. Title company might. I guess it's all about knowing your audience.

Just sounds kind of hokey to me. Retail-type pricing for a professional service??? Nah.

Besides which, it does kind of leave the exact fee hanging as most companies really don't know how many signatures are going to be required at the time they findanotary.

I think it would be a turnoff for most hiring entities.

If you don't value your time and experience, nobody else will.
