We all know that certain documents USUALLY get a particular type of notarization. But, it is not up to us to choose, as notaries. That would be making a legal decision for the client which is not allowed unless you are an attorney.
But, have you ever chosen which type of notarization to do, or been asked to choose?
If there is already a particular type of notary certificate attached to the document, then the choice has already been made by the document preparer (whomever that is), and you can go along your merry way, unless the signer objects.
Another RARE thought, is that you could notarize a particular document twice. (I'm not sure if this is legal or approved of) If the signer signs twice, and you record two journal entries, and attach two notarial certificates, you could do one Jurat and one Acknowledged signature. If I were doing this, I would put a note next to each signature, which notary act corresponded to that particular signature.
